Men in the UK will be able to buy Viagra over the counter after consulting with a pharmacist and without a prescription for the first time today.

Systems giant Medzino, one of the world's leading online pharmacies, said today that it will start offering generic versions of Viagra following a review process.

Viagra, which is still a prescription-only medication, will be available without a prescription from pharmacies after a hearing in the British Medical Journal.

The review was recommended by the MHRA and the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The MHRA said that while the review is not yet complete, it is hoped that generic versions of the drug will be available from today.
